The ancient city of Ujjain in the state of Madhya Pradesh is considered to be one of the holiest cities of India. Originally called Avantika, this city has a lot to give to the cultural heritage of the country. Situated on the banks of River Kshipra, Ujjain is the site for the triennial Kumbh Mela. Once in every twelve years, it hosts millions of devotees who take the opportunity to bathe in the holy waters and pay their offerings. Mahakaleshwar is another reason for the city to have tourists each year.

It can only be termed as a blessing by the lords and mother nature, that Omkareshwar, the sacred island, is shaped like Om – the holiest symbol of Hinduism. Apart from the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple the three storey Gauri Somnath Temple which is built in the shape of a peahen is also a place to see. Joining the list are Mahakaleshwar temple, Ashapuri temple, Siddhanath temple, Khedapati Hanuman temple, Rinmukteshwar temple, Mamleshwar temple, Kashi Vishwanath temple and Kedareshwar temple.
